Activists calling for justice and accountability projected their demands onto the facade of the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday evening with messages asking “Who Killed Daphne” and another reading “House of Impunity”.
The protest, organised by il-Kenniesa, aimed to reinforce the call for answers on Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination on 16 October and to make a point that there’s no accountability in Castille.
“This is us, fighting back against impunity and fighting for justice… Castille is and will remain the house of impunity, regardless of which political party is in power, unless the people demand otherwise,” the activists said in a statement.
MPs from Partit Demokratiku joined other activists at Castille square.
Court proceedings against three men accused of the murder continued in court on Thursday, but no one has been accused of commissioning the murder.
Malta has been criticised in the European Parliament following an investigation into the rule of law in the country that culminated in a scathing report calling for, among other things, the investigation and removal of Minister Konrad Mizzi and the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Keith Schembri who were exposed in the Panama Papers scandal.
