Calls for police commissioner’s resignation after US arrest of Pilatus Bank chairman

A protest will be held in front of the Malta police headquarters on Wednesday evening in which activists will reiterate their call for the resignation of Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar following the arrest in the US of Pilatus Bank chairman Ali Sadr Hashemi Nejad on Tuesday.

“We are taking yet another stand against Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar for his failure to protect the people and our country against corruption,” according to the statement.

“Cutajar failed to conduct proper investigations into Pilatus Bank. He failed to protect the journalist who exposed their criminal activities. He failed to conduct proper investigations and questioning into the real suspects linked to anti-corruption journalist, Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination. And, following Ali Sadr’s arrest in the US, we are left wondering where he is and what he’s doing right now to protect us,” the statement said.

The protest wlll be held in front of the police headquarters in Floriana  on Wednesday at 7pm.
