Amnesty Italia campaign leads with Daphne Caruana Galizia

Amnesty Italia have put Daphne Caruana Galizia at the forefront of their campaign ‘Donne giuste in un mondo sbagliato‘ (women of integrity in a crooked world).

The appeal includes a petition addressed to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat supporting the call for a public inquiry on the journalist’s assassination in October last year.

The petition notes Caruana Galizia’s last words: “There are crooks everywhere you look. The situation is desperate”.

It points out that more than a year after her death, those who commissioned her death are still free.

Caruana Galizia was working on several important investigations on corruption in the highest levels of government, the ties between powerful government officials and businesses, money laundering and the sale of passports, exposing institutional weaknesses and the failure of an EU Member State, Amnesty said.
